It should have been bigger. More momentous. When you are holding something in your hands that is the last of its kind, you feel as if it ought to be more … special. A collectible. Something worthy of a time capsule, or a memory box. There are no clues that this is a milestone moment in the struggle for survival of old media, and how women relate to the sisters-in-arms-advice-over-wine voice of the magazine, one that is now moving from their mailboxes to their inboxes. But thus does print go out: not with a bang, but a fizzle.
There were no catfights, or broken heels to report — just overwhelming joy. Bodies size XXS to 6X and beyond graced the catwalk, with each style presented on two different body types in different patterns and style. There were airy high-waisted pants topped with crop tops, off-the-shoulder jumpsuits and cozy cardigans draped over body-grazing maxi dresses. Models marched with pride sporting everything from black afros to platinum pixie cuts, and dewy pale cheeks to rich ebony complexions. In making a point about how different each model looked, we realize how little it mattered at all.
